Reading 4

Image Link  This week I have completed the rest of the academic readings. The biggest difficulty I have faced was to understand what exactly the reading is talking about and how to write an overview of what you have read. The second thing was that I got stuck and I couldn't find any more relative papers based on my topic which is Level design process in games but then I used research-gate which I found really helpful and it really helped me with completion of the readings that I had left to do.Overall I am happy with what I have written I think that I have collected a lot of relevant information based on my topic and a learned a lot about level design and things that are involved in the process of creating a game.   Readings! “Bad Level design can ruin a good game”. Which means that game level design is as strong as a game design. Which shows us that level design and game design are pretty much equal in terms of development of the game. Even though they are not identical, but th...

Game GDD

What is the GDD for? A Game Design Document (GDD) is a blueprint for the design and development of a game. The GDD is a way of being creative and documenting the approach to the development of the game. Gonzale (1999) states that “ the important thing is to have something that describes your game project (or any other project for that matter) before jumping into production .( Gamasutra ) It should help to plan out your game. Though it is recommended that the GDD should be short it needs to be detailed enough so as game developers and artists can coordinate the development of the game independently whilst still keeping to the design.  The GDD is a blueprint for how the game is going to be designed and built, similar to a mind map. In conclusion, the game design document is vital to making a game and it is important to have in order to describe your game project. How do we make one? There are a variety of tools that could be used to create a GDD. These include word processin...

"Game Elements"

Image Link Hi Everyone! Today I will be discussing two articles that I had read and I will share my thoughts about them. The first article I read was "What are the quality of games" this article was very interesting and it show that there is a lot individual and little thing that are involved into the game creation. As it was said I the article none of the game definitions are perfect but we can gain some potential ideas of what we might use or add when we are creating our own games. I also think that critical analysis is very important for the games because that the only way to see what can be improved or added into the game to make it more satisfying for the player. And I also agree with the statement that critical analysis is useful when discussing or examining the game. I really liked the video because it was very informative and covers things that you should follow when designing your own game.I like the example they showed in the video a little paper mockup where they  c...

"Game Design"

Today I read an article about games and what they are and what is involved in creating a game. I read a paper called "What is a Game Anyway" by Ian Schreiber which I found very interesting because he explains about games and that they are very similar to each other every game has a story, goals ,rules and different outcomes. Before reading this article I had a very little idea  how ill be creating my own game but as Schreiber said "Choose your own adventure book" which means create your own story and make it as confusing as you want and  be yourself , be creative even at the end of his article he says grab a pen and lets create a game which also shows us that we should overcome our fears and just be creative and try our best I don't be afraid to create a game just because you never did it before I think that was a great example which involved a person to try  make a game with a pen on the paper and overcome the fear of something that is impossible to create Link...
