Introduction 


The theme that I have picked for my assignment is Level Design Process. The four topics that I have created about level design process. I have covered the most important things that are involved into creation of a game and level design. All the work has been created through research based on the annotated bibliography that I have done. During this process I have learned a lot about level design and the things that are involved into creation of levels and games. In those four topics I am covering things like Level Architecture and why it’s important in level design process and also the things that are involved into Level Architecture and how it can really change your game and make it stand out. Another one is Bad Level Design and how it can ruin a good game. And the last two are Game Elements and Process and Experience in games. I think this work would be very helpful for people that want to learn a bit more about games and what is involved in them and those that are  game designers because I’m sure it will give them inspiration and will help to implement something new in their game that will make their game on another level. Level Architecture

This paragraph is about architecture in level design process and how it is implemented and used in the process of creating levels and a game . Architecture is one of the most important and very useful things in creation of a game design and level design theory. It helps and provides designers with inspiration  in very creative ways in order for them to create a very unique product for the players and their customers which  not only see levels as distinct work but also art work that is involved in the process of creating a game also music and sound effects are very important in creating a game level because they add more life and they make the game more attractive to the player and as well the provide some sort of a feeling that the play experiences in process of playing a game. Players experience of the game and the world has to evoke something in the person that is interacting with the game. Looking at historical precedents is an important effect for designers because historical lessons teach how space is composed. While the seen has always been important for architects’ historic buildings as an example were built for the great experience that they have created for the visitors. Architecture is built on practical theory which provides “insights in both how humans perceive space and how many cool ways there is to construct space. Level Architecture has a lot of different factors involved for the designer and it is essential in order to create a good game that will be appealing to the player.

 

 Bad Level Design

This paragraph covers bad level design and how it can ruin a good game and explains how to avoid .Bad level design can ruin a good game which means that the level design is as strong as a game design. This shows us that level design and game design are equal in terms of development of the game. Even though they are not identical because level design and game design involves different process, but they wouldn’t be able to work without each other.” Jay Wilbur” said that level design is about making sure that player understands 

game rules and the game elements in order to be able to apply them in practice.” John Romero said that level designers have to consider where the game is taking place and where everything is starting so it has to be done in the way to express the mood of the game and the environment. From various views on level design is responsible for gameplay implementation. This really shows and explains how bad level design can ruin a good game if the designer haven’t considered level design and game design because those two are pretty much in terms of development of the game. This gives designer very clear idea and full understanding  of how level design can ruin a good game.

 

 Game Elements

 In this paragraph you will find out what game elements are important when it comes to designing levels and a game. Games consist of four elements which has effect on the game. It is a video game, player, metrics and gaming experience All genres explain the fact that they all include a gameplay of a character which is placed in more than one level  for each game genre 3D levels in the game can be presented on a 2D maps of the the game environment where the game takes place. Player and the act of players behaviour is depending on many different factors for example players skills their ability to play games and also their past experience.

There are a lot of factors that are motivating player to play this game things like exploring discovering and more. Also player skills have an effect on a player completing the game and how the player will experience the game overall. Game metrics is used  in a game to describe the game and other metrics in the is used to analyse context. Complexity of each genre will define type of metrics in the game. Some examples of game metrics would be time,energy,health.”Gaming experience is a quality of level and direct result of the quality of a level and is therefore a relevant of the model.” Game elements of a game and also other factors that are necessary because it is the only way to achieve success in level design creation.  

 

 

 

Process and Experience

I this paragraph you will learn about level design methods and this will be very helpful for those people that are learning level design. By Christopher W. Totten  level design and Experience provides a lot of level design methods between sectors of industry as well as practical information and philosophies. This series of assays can be very beneficial to students that are learning level design software’s. It provides level design from four different ways. Experiencing Level, Designing Levels, Constructing Levels, and Testing Levels.

Experiencing Levels creates a bridge into the next section on planning levels. 

Designing Levels “development of strongly mechanically levels that are tested trough several iterations and case studies.

Constructing Levels for constructing levels the method is to  incorporate art and sound assets to expand players freedom in game world.

Testing Levels great level design appears from testing and making changes each time in order to achieve perfection. This methods they really show how each stage of the game needs to be considered by a designer.

 

I hope that my work was helpful and educational for those that are starting game design and I hope it has increased your understanding of Level Design Process and those things that are involved into creation of Level Design and how to approach your game in the right way to make it satisfying for the player and that the game is really enjoyable for the player. I personally learned a lot of new things throughout the process of discovering game level design and everything work in it.During my research and work on the topics I realised how much planning and aspects like Architecture and Elements effect levels in game and how important it is to understand this before you start your journey as a level designer. I am looking forward to get some feedback on the work that I have completed and advise is always welcomed to improve my work.
