Game Design Document

In my Game Design Document I mention and clearly explained what I will exactly do in my game and what is going to be involved in it and also all the process that I will implement in the game.So to start with  I decided to create a power point presentation in which I have broken all the process into stages that the game will be created and how the game should look like.

I started with a the name of my game which I have finally created the name of my game would be "Ghost Runner" Then I made a summary section were I briefly explained what the game is going to be about. Than I went on to the next section which is Gameplay and in this section I wrote about the features of the game and what would be involved in the gameplay in general. In the next section I spoked about Game Style were I have explained the game style of my game and also to what my game is similar to and all other aspects such as the game would be in cartoonish  ghost style to describe the mood of the game as good as possible.I also spoked about my main character and the obstacles ill be using in the game I attached images to represent what kind of characters and obstacles ill be using.I also decided to add background sound to my game to make it more enjoyable and playable.I also briefly described my game environment to make my game design document as clear as possible and easy to understand what I want to create.

Game Design Document that I have made is really helpfull because now I have a lot better visual idea of what exactly I will be using in my game and what my game is going to look like. And I am looking forward to start making my game in Unity and learn new things and develop my gaming skills.

  1. What’s up Roman. How’s the fellow nicotine addict? really enjoyed reading about your Game Design Document I myself used the Dundoc website I found it to be pretty easy. But You’ve made a nice presentation. I like how visual the presentation was. The picture made it easier to understand what you were thinking.

Just wondering if you plan to have a backing track to your game and also how you hope the player will control the character what keys will be pressed etc.

I definitely think you will create a great game I would advise you to spend some time creating really nice looking backdrops and charters if the games looks nicely polished I believe it will excel.

Anyways my boy it was good to read your blog I catch you soon.

  2. Hi, Roman!!
I really like your game idea, especially that the player is a ghost and the cartoonish look (my favourites hihihi)
I was wondering if when one level ends and the next begins if all the three lives are going to be reset? I was also wondering if in a level there will be more keys than what is needed, like, you need 3 keys to pass but the level offers 5 keys.
What if for the sound effect you add a happy kind of music, something like Mario's, something energetic?
Best of luck with your game creation!

  3. Hi. Roman Your GDD is nice and short and covers pretty much what your going to do with your game. I am really curious on how you plan on actually making the game because you did not seem to mention a lot about the assets. I also like how you gave the player three life's but I think giving just one life would be more appropriate because that would be more challenging. anyway goodluck.

  4. Hey Roman! Really enjoyed reading your GDD and like your take on the game where your making it a side view style similar to jetpack joyride! You mentioned having levels in the game and having to collect keys to win. Do the levels get harder with each level? Do the obstacles go faster or appear more often? An idea I have would be to change up the obstacles which each level so that each level doesn't seem the same! Best of luck with your game and I look forward to seeing more!

  5. Hi Roman how are you? I just finished reading your games design document there. I created my game design document on Dundoc. I really like your game idea I haven't seen a game like it yet which is even more exciting. When reading your document I noticed you never mentioned sounds is there anything your hoping to add to the game? I think adding music will really give the game a more exciting feel to it.
Best of luck this semester and hope your game goes well for you. I am looking forward to seeing and possibly playing it.
